ELIGIBLE ENTRY REVIEWS
First level: 1980 to 2020 (VTR Project team to choose winners based on inhouse/historical knowledge/research data).
Since the idea to recognise and award Voice talent in Zimbabwe was first conceptualised in the year 2022, the project drivers saw it fit to get the awards running, by calling for nominations from that year. The idea is to have this broad period in which to call various voice talents to enter their work for consideration and then build up from there.
A lot of work has been put into the project over these last two years and we would like to thank various individuals who have contributed immensely through various ideas and support.
Second level: January 2022 – December 2024- This is an open call to current/active Voice Talents to submit their work for consideration by the VTRZ project team.
ADJUDICATION /JUDGING CRITERIA
Establishing clear, fair and comprehensive adjudication criteria is essential for the integrity and success of the Voices That Rock Zim awards. Here are five key points that could serve as the foundation for selecting winners:
- Vocal Excellence and Versatility
- Assess the quality of the nominee’s vocal ability, including tone, clarity, range, and flexibility.
- Consider the nominee’s skill in adapting their voice to different roles, formats, or genres, demonstrating versatility and breadth in their craft.
- Impact and Influence
- Evaluate the extent to which the nominee’s work has made a significant impact on their audience, industry, or community.
- This can include the ability to engage and retain audiences, influence trends, or contribute to societal change through their voice work.
- Creativity and Innovation
- Examine the nominee’s ability to bring creativity and innovation to their performances or presentations.
- This includes originality in interpretation, the introduction of new ideas or techniques, and the ability to refresh and invigorate content through their vocal delivery.
- Professionalism and Work Ethic
- Consider the nominee’s professionalism, including their commitment to their craft, consistency in performance quality, and their work ethic.
- This also encompasses the nominee’s collaboration with other professionals, ability to meet deadlines, and contribution to a positive work environment.
- Contribution to the Voice Industry
- Look at the nominee’s contributions to the voice industry in Zimbabwe, including mentorship, advocacy, or participation in industry-related events and initiatives.
- This criterion recognizes nominees who not only excel in their personal careers but also invest time and resources into uplifting the industry as a whole.
These points ensure a holistic evaluation of nominees, focusing not only on the technical aspects of their vocal talent but also on their impact, creativity, professionalism and contribution to the broader industry. This approach encourages a diverse and inclusive representation of talents, promoting excellence and innovation in Zimbabwe’s voice industry.
