The journey into the field of voice-over has been both challenging and rewarding. One of the most significant hurdles for many in this profession is discovering and refining their unique voice. While some voice talents find this process to come naturally, it was not an easy path for me.
Throughout my early years, I was often told that I possessed a “radio voice.” However, being a rather reserved individual in my youth, pursuing a career in radio or voice-over was far from my aspirations. I lacked the exposure needed at that time.
In 2009, at the age of 29, I relocated to the United States. This transition quickly thrust me into a culture where being outspoken and articulate was essential, as I engaged in face-to-face work with clients. It was during this period that I was introduced to the world of voice-over, which ultimately became a career path I embraced with great enthusiasm.
Since then, I have undertaken voice-over assignments for clients in the United States, England, Canada, Nigeria, Zimbabwe, and South Africa. My projects have ranged from video games to various advertisements. The process of finding and developing my unique voice has taken years of dedication, involving persistence, self-confidence, and continuous learning.
To this day, I have never recorded in a professional studio; all of my projects have been produced in my home studio. This journey has taught me that when one pursues their passion with commitment, success and opportunities will naturally follow. I continue to learn and grow in this field every day, embracing the challenges and honing my craft in the art of voice-over.
